SHINING A NEON LIGHT ON IVAN RIVERS
Our featured artist of the week Celebrated Folk Icon Ivan Rivers.
Hailing from Clinton, Ontario and now residing in the Royal City of Guelph, Ivan Rivers has been around the block once or twice, establishing himself as a true renaissance artist in the world of Canadian independent music. From his solo indie folk/alt countrywork as Ivan Rivers, to his Toronto-based punk band Stuck Out Here, to his Huron County born independent record label Eternal Bummer Records, Rivers has always had plenty of irons in the fire.
Ivan Rivers latest EP "There's No Such Luck" was recorded in February and March of 2020, right before the entire world shut down. The 4 song record received its digital release later on October and is available for purchase on Bandcamp. Deep inside the Dissonant Folk Factory in Guelph Ontario the album also features Aaron Goldstein (Daniel Romano, Donovan Woods, Kathleen Edwards, City & Colour) on pedal steel and additional vocals from Katie Lammert.
Rivers and Lammert have more plans to collaborate in the future on an album of classic-style country duets and needless-to-say, we can't wait.
Ivan is now a veteran in the Canadian independent music scene and, armed with more life experience and an ever expanding list of collaborators at his side, we're excited to see what the future holds for Celebrated Folk Icon Ivan Rivers.
